About Course

What is MasterCAM ?

Mastercam is a computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) software suite developed by CNC Software, Inc. It is widely used in the manufacturing industry for programming CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machines, which are used to create precision parts and components.

  • CAD Design: Mastercam includes CAD tools for creating 2D and 3D geometric models. Users can create detailed part designs, including features such as holes, fillets, and chamfers.
  • CAM Programming: The CAM functionality in Mastercam is used for generating toolpaths that guide CNC machines in cutting and shaping materials. This includes strategies for milling, turning, wire EDM (Electrical Discharge Machining), and other machining processes.
  • Toolpath Simulation: Mastercam allows users to simulate toolpaths in a virtual environment before they are sent to the CNC machine. This helps in identifying potential issues and optimizing the machining process.
  • Post Processing: After generating toolpaths, Mastercam includes post-processing capabilities to convert the toolpath information into machine-specific CNC code. This code is then used to control the CNC machine.
  • Multiaxis Machining: Mastercam supports multiaxis machining, allowing users to program complex parts that require tool movement along multiple axes simultaneously. This is particularly useful for industries such as aerospace and mold making.
