What is SolidWorks?

SolidWorks is a 3D modeling and design application that is widely used in the engineering and manufacturing industries. SolidWorks allows users to create and edit 3D models of parts and assemblies, as well as generate 2D drawings of those models.

SolidWorks is a parametric application, which means that it stores design information in parameters (dimensions, geometry, material properties, etc.) that can be changed at any time. This makes it easy to make changes to a design and then see how those changes affect the rest of the model.

The SOLIDWORKS software solutions are used by mechanical, electrical, and electronics engineers to form a connected design. The suite of programs is aimed at keeping all engineers in communication and able to respond to design needs or changes.
